Case 2: College Mentors for Kids STEM Activity
This case was similar to Case 1 in that we were required to work in groups to create a lesson plan based on a given scenario. This particular case had a spotlight on 'at-risk' children in upper elementary, middle, or high school with mentors participating in the College Mentors for Kids (CMFK) program through Purdue University. For the case we were instructed to create a STEM-focused lesson for 15-20 of these students and their mentors.
To complete this case, my group created a lesson plan focused on Science and Math that gave the students the opportunity to practice basic research skills and work in groups to draw conclusions about the data they collect. View the lesson plan and Web 2.0/Discussion form in the web browser by scrolling down. Alternatively, links to download and view the files themselves are here and here, respectively. A blog post summarizing our work on this case is also available here.
