a) I think what worked best for me in this project was the use of fun characters! I had a blast drawing the characters that I used but I think they also contribute to how much the audience will enjoy completing this learning activity.
b) If I had the time, I would clean up my artwork and incorporate more accommodations and animations. I figured out a way to make the text interactive so that more advanced readers could read the information at their own pace, but it was very time-consuming to complete all the animations for each slide. I also would have loved to get some practice in creating lessons in Spanish by translating this activity and offering that alternative for students whose parents speak primarily Spanish in the home, but once again I didn't have the time to go through and recreate each slide in Spanish.
c) The planning cards actually helped me a lot more than I thought! I don't usually do well when I have a concrete plan because my ideas and thoughts change often throughout the course of completing a project or assignment, but for this particular activity I actually benefitted from having the planning cards to guide me along. They gave me a jumping-off point while still allowing for my creativity; I had to update a lot of cards because of the way my project changed as I went along! The peer evaluation similarly helped me make sure I stayed on the right track. By using the constructive feedback given to me in my various evaluations, I was careful to make sure I stayed within the guidelines of the rubric as much as possible.
d) Planning and creating instructional activities is extremely time-consuming! A lot of thought and care goes into making a quality lesson for students, and it's going to be helpful to know how much time it would realistically take me to generate an activity like this for future classes.
e) I think this project especially addressed ISTE Standard 2, Design and develop digital age learning experiences and assessments. I especially feel that my project met this standard based on criterion b., which addresses developing learning environments that enable ALL students to facilitate their own learning, due to the multiple possibilities of accommodations for students. I think this type of activity offers a lot of flexibility because it is able to support multiple types of media in many different ways to accommodate almost any kind of learner.
